Finding a Loft Apartment in Los Angeles

Loft apartments have never been common in Los Angeles. That’s not to say that they are unavailable, only that one must make an effort to find one. The exception are the modern, trendy, luxury lofts being built for the wealthy. These lofts are often out of the price range of the average renter.

There are several ways to find rental units in Los Angeles. Daily newspapers such as: the Los Angeles Times and the Valley Daily News carry thousands of advertisements for rental units every day. There are also Spanish language newspapers which carry similar listings.

If you are unable to find the unit you are looking for in one of the traditional newspapers, there is also specialty renter’s newspapers which can be inexpensively purchased at newsstands or which may be found for free in supermarkets and other business locales. These papers specialize in providing housing and apartment listings and may be broken down into different geographic locations for your convenience.

If both the general newspapers as well as, the specialty papers fail to provide the information you need, there are specialty rental agencies which, for a small fee, will outfit you with lists of rental units and often provide more details on each unit than the newspapers. Some agencies screen potential renters to weed out those with questionable past rental histories – these agents often have units listed that are not available through the newspapers and they may be able to direct you specifically to loft units in your price range.

And then, of course, there is the Internet. Many online rental agencies have information regarding hundreds of units available for rent. By inputting the specific criteria you are looking for in a rental unit, within just a few seconds (time frame dependent upon speed of your Internet hook-up,) you will be sent descriptions of those units which meet your physical, geographical, and budgetary requirements.

As a whole, LA has a great deal going for it, and if you are considering making the move to Los Angeles there are plenty of ways for you to find a place to live in a neighborhood that ideally suits both your lifestyle and your budget.
